Accessibility
Our aim
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, in English and in Arabic.
How we check it
Every build of the site runs these checks, and does not ship if one fails:
- axe, with the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules for levels A and AA, on every page in both languages, at desktop and phone width, including the request panel and the phone replay while they run;
- a keyboard-only walk through the home page in both languages: every control is reached with the Tab key, and each shows a visible focus ring;
- a check that the bar at the bottom of a phone screen never covers whatever has focus;
- a contrast check on every colour pairing the design allows;
- Lighthouse, on the home page in both languages.
What you can rely on
- Everything works with a keyboard alone.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the office holds still, the receipt shows all its lines at once, and the phone replay shows the whole conversation. The live office also has a pause button.
- Screen readers get the office as one picture with a description, and everything it shows is also said in the text of the page.
- The Arabic pages read from right to left, in Arabic type, with figures that keep their order.
Known limits
- The office is drawn, not written: a screen reader hears its description, not each desk.
- Inside the office, the labels are in English, on the Arabic page too.
- Our checks so far are automated and by keyboard. Checks with a screen reader on a phone are still to come.
